Repair orders
One repair order, from the write-up to the sealed record.
The repair order (RO) is the one record a car's visit lives on. Scarab OS calls it the work order. It opens when you check the car in and ends as a sealed record.

Write it up
- Customer, vehicle, VIN and what the customer says is wrong. The work order records who wrote it up.
- A decoded VIN fills the vehicle. On a ¾-ton pickup or a truck it also picks the labor rate from the weight class.
- An appointment checks in with one click: the booking becomes the job, the VIN becomes a vehicle, the note becomes the complaint.

Follow it on the board
- Sixteen steps from Intake to Picked Up, each its own stage on the job board. A one-person shop drops 2 of them, a mobile shop 3.
- Each job on the board shows the vehicle, what the customer says is wrong, and how long it has been in the shop.
- The customer can look up where their car stands at Where's my car?, in plain words, with what it is waiting on.

- The vehicle
- What the customer says is wrong
- How long it has been in the shop

Inspect, estimate, repair, invoice
- Inspect it. Three sheets, findings and photos that land on the estimate. Inspections
- Estimate it. The customer answers each line, Yes, do it or Not now. Estimates
- Repair it. The technician's labor and parts go on the job under their name, with the clock.
- Invoice it. The invoice comes from the sealed record, and payment is recorded on the same job. Invoicing

Seal it
- When the work is Completed, someone at the counter seals it. Everything freezes, and nobody can change it afterwards without it showing.
- To fix something you seal a correction, and the original stays.
- Only once the job is Completed, only when every part has a price, only by the front desk, a service advisor, a manager or the owner, and once. The sealed record
