How shops set it

  • As a fixed amount on every job.
  • Or as a percentage of the labor, the parts or the whole job.
  • Often with a cap, so a large job does not carry a large supplies charge.

Bay 02

Show it plainly

  • It goes on the estimate and the invoice as its own line, so the customer sees it before they say yes.
  • Whether it is taxed depends on where you are.
  • Rules about supplies charges differ by state. Check yours before you set one.

Where Scarab OS does this

  • Under Settings › Shop fees you set the charges your shop adds to jobs: shop supplies, hazmat, disposal. Each is:
    • a fixed amount, or a percentage of the labor, the parts or the whole job;
    • capped if you want;
    • taxable or not.
  • Fees go on the estimate and the invoice like any other line.
