Your number, both ways

  • Texts go out from your shop's own number. Save it in Settings › Integrations › Phone and texting.
  • Messages holds every conversation with your customers, and a conversation with unread texts carries a count.
  • Calls sit in the same thread as the texts: incoming, outgoing, missed and voicemail.
  • Quick replies fill the box with a sentence you can change: Waiting on parts, Running behind, Ready for pickup, Estimate sent. Nothing goes until you press Send.
  • When somebody is already answering a conversation, its top says who.

A yes before the first text

  • A text to a customer goes only once they have said yes to texts. Without one, the send is refused and says why.
  • At the counter, Record yes… opens a short form: read them the script, say how they answered, confirm you read the number back, and write down what they said.
  • Check-in asks the question when a customer's answer is not on record, and asks again when their number changes.
  • A customer who replies STOP (or ALTO) is not texted again until they reply START. HELP (or AYUDA) gets your shop's name back.

What goes by text

  • The estimate link, the inspection report, the pay link and the receipt, to a customer who said yes.
  • A text you press Send on goes at once. One nobody pressed goes out only between 8 am and 8 pm on your shop's clock.
  • Two automatic texts, each off until the owner switches it on:
    • one reminder when an estimate has had no answer, after the open hours you set;
    • one when a part for the customer's job is running late, with the new day.

When a call is missed

  • Set the text sent when nobody answers. A caller whose customer record carries a yes to texts gets it, once per call. Ringing the shop is not a yes.
  • A caller who is not a customer can be asked to press 1 before the call rings through. It is a switch under Phone and texting.
  • Block a number, and its calls and texts are refused until you unblock it.

What it costs

  • Solo includes 300 texts a month. Shop includes 1,000, and Group 1,000 at each location.
  • Past the allowance, a text is 5¢. Nothing is cut off mid-job. You get an email at 80% and at 100%.

Questions shops ask

  • Can I text customers from my shop's own number?

Yes. Save the number in Settings › Integrations › Phone and texting, and texts go out from it. Replies and calls land in the same conversation.

  • Do customers have to agree to texts first?

Yes. A text goes only to a customer whose yes is on record, and check-in asks when it isn't. STOP ends texts until they reply START.

  • Can I send the estimate and the pay link by text?

Yes, to a customer who said yes to texts. Each lands in their conversation.

  • What happens when I miss a call?

The caller gets the text you set, once, if their customer record carries a yes to texts.

  • How many texts are included?

Solo includes 300 a month, Shop 1,000 and Group 1,000 at each location. After that a text is 5¢.
